Kajian Setilah dalam Prosesi Bejangkep Suku Sasak Lombok: Pemertahanan Ragam Istilah Lokal

Abstract

This research employs an ethnolinguistic framework to investigate the multifarious setilah terminologies of the Sasak people within the bejangkep procession. The data corpus for this study comprises linguistic units associated with Sasak setilah terminologies employed in the bejangkep procession. The primary source of data collection involves traditional Sasak leaders from Central Lombok Regency serving as informants. Methodologically, this research adopts a combination of interview sessions, audio recordings, auditory analysis, and meticulous note-taking. The data analysis process encompasses three key phases: identification, reduction, and interpretation. The findings of this study reveal several important insights. Firstly, the bejangkep procession exhibits a series of distinct forms and stages, commencing with berayean, progressing to midang, and culminating in bales nae. Secondly, within the bejangkep procession, a diversity of linguistic units is identified, encompassing nouns, verbs, and subordinate phrases. These subordinate phrases comprise grammatical structures formed by the juxtaposition of two words belonging to different syntactic classes or lexical categories. Thirdly, numerous rituals observed during the bejangkep procession exhibit significant connections to local wisdom and the distinctive cultural heritage of the Sasak community. The ritual use of andang-andang, a prominent offering symbolizing the commencement of the bejangkep procession, particularly the begawe phase, serves as a poignant reflection of the socio-economic and knowledge systems inherent to the Sasak people. Evidently, the inclusion of rice as a vital component of andang-andang, which is meticulously prepared by epen gawe prior to the commencement of begawe activities, signifies the agrarian nature of the Sasak community. Additionally, rice holds symbolic significance as it embodies the aspirations and hopes of the Sasak people.
