Peningkatan kemampuan siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 TOARI dalam menulis naskah drama melalui model pembelajaran discovery learning
Abstract
This research was motivated by the low ability of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Toari in writing drama scripts based on prose adaptations, with only three students achieving scores above the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). This research aims to improve students' ability in adapting short stories into one-act drama scripts by paying attention to intrinsic elements and dramatic structures using the discovery learning model. This classroom action research used the Kemmis and McTaggart design which was implemented in three stages (pre-action, Cycle I, Cycle II) with 21 students as subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, drama script writing tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in each cycle. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 70.48 (quite capable) with a classical completion of 33.3% (7 students). Then in Cycle II, after increased learning in the form of strengthening the concept of adaptation and intensive individual guidance, the average score increased to 80.43 (capable) with a classical completion of 80.95% (17 students). The average score increased from pre-action to Cycle I by 21.91%, from Cycle I to Cycle II by 14.44%, and cumulatively reached 39.51%. Student activity also increased from moderately active in Cycle I to active in Cycle II. This proves that the discovery learning model is effective in improving students' ability to write drama scripts adapted from short stories.
