Pragmatic research that flouts the Maxim of Quality in the context of talk shows with millennial audiences or participants remains relatively rare. Several previous studies analyse violations of maxims in popular and more formal talk shows. However, it is not the same as on the Steve Harvey talk show, which highlights humour from flouting maxims across generations. Flouting of maxims is common in many television shows, which can certainly affect communication dynamics. This research uses Paul Grice’s Cooperative Principle and Attardo’s humour theory in the context of talk shows across generations. This research identifies and examines the actions in which Steve Harvey deliberately flouts the Maxim of Quality through strategies such as hyperbole, metaphor, irony, sarcasm, and banter. The analysis shows that hyperbole is the most commonly used strategy, followed by metaphor, banter, irony, and sarcasm. These strategies particularly serve to create humour, deliver criticism, and foster a sense of connection with the audience or build solidarity, with humour being the most significant function for this research. Thus, this study highlights how flouting the maxim of quality serves as a strategy for critical humour and can reflect social values and generational differences. Findings from research on flouting the maxim of quality and humour strategies can be used by various groups who need a deeper understanding of how to deliver messages effectively to cross-generational audiences.
2026-01-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2695Analisis Gaya Bahasa Kiasan Pada Lirik Lagu "o, Tuan" Karya .Feast2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Nofrisha Arkana Raidnofrisha.raid@mhs.unsoed.ac.idLalita Melasariantilalita.melasarianti@unsoed.ac.idNur Indah Sholikhatinur.indah.sholikhati@unsoed.ac.id

This study aims to describe the use of figurative language in the lyrics of the song “O, Tuan” from the album *Membangun & Menghancurkan* by .Feast through a stylistic analysis. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using the Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC) method and note-taking techniques to identify, classify, and analyze the forms of figurative language that appear in the song lyrics. The results of the study indicate that there are six types of figurative language, based on Gorys Keraf’s classification, found in the lyrics of “O, Tuan,” namely metaphor, personification, antonomasia, synecdoche, hypallage, and innuendo. These six figures of speech play a role in building the expressive power of the lyrics, such as metaphors and personification, which provide poetic and emotional nuances, as well as antonomasia and synecdoche, which offer variations in the representation of meaning. Additionally, hypallage and innuendo provide a more complex interpretive layer through deviations from standard structure and the subtle or implied conveyance of meaning. This finding confirms that .Feast employs language choices in an aesthetic, symbolic, and deliberate manner to reinforce the artistic message and social critique intended to be conveyed. Thus, the figurative language in the lyrics of “o, Tuan” is not merely an aesthetic element but also functions as a linguistic strategy that enriches meaning, deepens the message, and reinforces the social critique and existential reflection on humanity’s limitations regarding time and death conveyed symbolically and poetically to the listener.

Keywords: Stylistics, Figurative Language, Feast

2026-01-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2661Kesalahan Berbicara Bahasa Indonesia Oleh Mahasiswa Asing Penutur Bahasa Arab Dalam Membaca Cerita Legenda Nusantara di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Intan Sukma Melatimelatiintansukma@gmail.comUki Hares Yuliantiukihares@unsoed.ac.idM. One of the errors identified was a phonemic shift in the pronunciation of the word “candi” [candi], which was realized as “jandi” [jandi]. The change from /c/ to /j/ occurs because the Arabic phonology lacks the /c/ phoneme, while the closest sound is the (jīm) phoneme, which is realized as /j/. The absence of a direct phonetic equivalent prompts speakers to substitute a foreign phoneme, resulting in pronunciation that deviates from Indonesian language norms. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data from three students from Yemen. The data consists of the students’ spoken utterances, obtained through observation, interviews, audio recordings during text reading, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was strengthened through source triangulation and member checking to ensure the research results remain objective and consistent with field facts. The research results indicate that there are three main types of phonological errors: phoneme addition (12 instances), phoneme deletion (25 instances), and phoneme substitution (57 instances). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Arabic-speaking students still face challenges in adapting to the phonotactic patterns of the Indonesian language. This study is expected to contribute to a learning approach focused on strengthening articulation exercises for sound production, as well as intensive guidance that emphasizes empathetic pedagogical interaction between teachers and learners, so that foreign students’ pronunciation skills can develop in accordance with the phonological rules of the Indonesian language.

Keywords: phonological errors, foreign speakers, Indonesian language learning, phonology.
2026-01-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2595Slang In The Film Deadpool (2016): Sociolinguistics Study2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Cipta Yudistira Ardiracipta.ardira@widyatama.ac.idErvina CM Simatupangervina.simatupang@widyatama.ac.id
This study analyzes the use of slang in the film Deadpool (2016) from a sociolinguistic perspective, focusing on how informal language portrays character identity and social meaning. The purpose of this study is to identify the different types of slang used by Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and examine how these slang functions sociolinguistically in the film's dialogue. A qualitative descriptive method is applied using the film and its official transcripts as the primary data sources. A total of nine slang expressions spoken by the main character were collected through documentation and note-taking techniques, selected based on the criteria of containing standard, community, taboo, fresh and creative, acronym, and borrowed slang elements relevant to sociolinguistic analysis. The data were validated through triangulation of theory to ensure accuracy in classification and interpretation. The results show that Deadpool often uses innovative and inappropriate expressions to convey comedy, sarcasm, and emotional intensity, thus reinforcing his rebellious and humorous persona. This study demonstrates that slang in audiovisual media functions as a sociolinguistic phenomenon, fostering character development and narrative engagement, and reflecting group identity and social dynamics. By providing insight into the relationship between informal language and sociocultural expressions in popular media, this study contributes to sociolinguistic studies and offers a reference for further research on sociolinguistics.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2827Representasi Identitas Perempuan Arab Saudi dalam Film Naga Karya Meshal Al-Jasser: Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes2026-04-20T09:25:31+08:00Siti Hani ZakiyahAlhafidzniehani@gmail.comRohanda RohandaAlhafidzniehani@gmail.comMuhammad Abdul HalimAlhafidzniehani@gmail.com
This study identifies the representation of female identity in the film Naga (2023) by Meshal Al-Jasser using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which focuses on denotative, connotative, and myth meanings. Though existing literature often examines semantic change within single linguistic traditions, comparative research across different cultural and linguistic contexts remains relatively underexplored. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to investigate how theological meaning evolves when transposed into these distinct cultural and temporal contexts. Employing a qualitative descriptive design grounded in diachronic semantics and translation studies, the research analyzes five key lexemes of zĕnûnêyhā, ḥesed, ’āšûbā, bĕrît, and ruḥāmā that frequently appear in the Hebrew Masoretic Text and their renderings in the King James Version, New King James Version, Terjemahan Lama, and Terjemahan Baru Edisi 2. The results indicate that the English translation tradition exhibits relative semantic stability, while the Indonesian translations demonstrate systematic patterns as identified in 32 lexical examples, yielding 128 comparative data points. The findings suggest that the English translation tradition reveals relative lexical stability. In contrast, the Indonesian translations exhibit systematic patterns of semantic change, including narrowing, subjectivization, and amelioration. These patterns indicate that semantic change in biblical translation operates not only as a linguistic process but also serves as a form of theological and cultural adaptation. The results point to a diachronic shift in Indonesian translations from formal lexical representation toward the explicit encoding of internal theological states. Ultimately, this study contributes to the fields of diachronic semantics and translation studies by showing how cross-linguistic translation mediates theological meaning across historical and cultural contexts.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2755Perbedaan Pemerolehan Bahasa pada Saudara Kembar Usia 5 Tahun dengan ADD dan ASD dalam Lingkungan Linguistik yang Sama2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Putu Wahyu Widiatmikawahyu_widiatmika@unud.ac.idNissa Puspitaning Adniwahyuni@gmail.com
This study examines language acquisition in five-year-old twins with different neurodevelopmental conditions, namely Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The study aims to describe and compare the language acquisition of the two research subjects in terms of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. This study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. The research subjects are two twin boys, one of whom has ADD and the other has ASD. Data were collected through participant observation and interviews using transcription and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted using a qualitative approach and presented descriptively. The results indicate that the child with ADD exhibits more developed linguistic competence compared to the child with ASD. The child with ADD is capable of acquiring language at the phonological, syntactic, and semantic levels, although inconsistencies in sound production and sentence structure are still observed. Conversely, the child with ASD has not yet demonstrated language acquisition at the word and meaning levels and remains at the babbling stage. The significant differences in language acquisition between the two study groups, despite growing up in relatively similar linguistic environments and receiving comparable linguistic stimuli, indicate that language acquisition is strongly influenced by children’s cognitive readiness and neurological conditions. This study contributes empirically by demonstrating that certain neurodivergent conditions affect children’s language acquisition progress even when they receive identical linguistic treatment.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2724Pelanggaran Prinsip Kesantunan Berbahasa dalam Kolom Komentar pada Channel Youtube Ferry Irwandi2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Rico Ikhsanirico.ikhsani@mhs.unsoed.ac.idEtin Pujihastutirico.ikhsani@mhs.unsoed.ac.idVera Krisnawatirico.ikhsani@mhs.unsoed.ac.id
This study aims to describe the forms of violations of the principle of linguistic politeness by netizens in a video titled “Exposing the Lies About Black Magic & Indigo Children,” which was released on November 4, 2024. The research data consists of written posts by Social Media X users containing verbs with the di-in affix. Data were collected using the observe-and-record method and analyzed using the distributional method through the direct element technique, the substitution technique, and the elision technique. The results indicate that the di-in affixation is a productive and systematic non-standard affixation pattern in social media language. The di-in affix can attach to the base forms of verbs, adjectives, and nouns, thereby producing non-standard passive verbs. Morphologically, the di-in affixation is derivational when it causes a change in word class, particularly from nouns and adjectives to verbs, and is inflectional when it merely marks the passive grammatical relation without altering the word class of the verb base. Additionally, the estimated divergence times for the three languages range from 2,471–3,165 years ago for Javanese and Sundanese, 2,404–2,852 years ago for Javanese and Madurese, and 2,503–2,961 years ago for Sundanese and Madurese, with the longest divergence period occurring between Turi Javanese and Bogor Sundanese. Thus, this study contributes to the body of knowledge on the phonological systems of Indonesian regional languages and demonstrates that immigration, geographical differences, and contact with other languages can consistently alter proto-languages.

Keywords: language relationship, sound correspondence, lexicostatistics, glottochronology
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2796Perbandingan First Sound Fluency (FSF) Siswa Kelas III pada Awal dan Tengah Semester Pembelajaran Aksara Bali2026-04-20T07:22:59+08:00Ni Luh Wayan Senja Pratiwisenja.pratiwi@student.undiksha.ac.idI Ketut Paramartasenja.pratiwi@student.undiksha.ac.idIda Bagus Putra Manik Aryanasenja.pratiwi@student.undiksha.ac.id
Teaching Balinese script reading at the elementary school level faces a serious challenge in the form of students’ low phonological awareness, which is caused by the complexity of phoneme representation in the Balinese script, which differs significantly from the Latin alphabet. This challenge hinders students’ ability to accurately identify the initial sounds of words. This study aims to compare the First Sound Fluency (FSF) scores of third-grade students at the beginning and midpoint of the semester to measure the development of phonological awareness in the context of Balinese script learning. The study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design through a simple longitudinal measurement of 24 elementary school students selected through purposive sampling. The FSF test instrument was adapted to include 24 Balinese-script words familiar to the students and analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, score range) without inferential testing. The results showed an increase in the average FSF score from 33.125 to 35.333, with the minimum score rising from 26 to 31, and the maximum score from 42 to 45. These findings confirm the effectiveness of FSF as an assessment tool for early literacy development based on regional scripts.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2803Efektivitas Metode Inkuiri dengan Bantuan ChatGPT dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis Teks Deskripsi Siswa2026-04-20T10:46:56+08:00Anggle Anggllina Putridayuweda@unmas.ac.idIda Ayu Made Wedasuwaridayuweda@unmas.ac.idNi Wayan Eminda Saridayuweda@unmas.ac.id
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ChatGPT-assisted inquiry method in improving the descriptive writing skills of seventh-grade students in Class VII B at SMP PGRI 2 Denpasar. This study aims to describe the structure of news texts written by seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Purwokerto based on macro-structure, superstructure, and micro-structure aspects. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research data consisted of ten news texts written by students, obtained through documentation and analyzed using the model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). The results indicate that regarding macro-structure, 9 out of 10 texts (90%) contained clear and relevant topics, including themes such as traffic accidents, natural disasters, environmental issues, and crime. In terms of superstructure, 7 out of 10 students (70%) were able to compose news texts coherently in accordance with journalistic conventions (headline, lead, body, and conclusion), although 3 texts still featured a concluding section that was persuasive and opinionated. Regarding microstructure, the semantic, stylistic, and rhetorical aspects were each met by 9 out of 10 students (90%), while syntax was the weakest aspect, with only 8 students (80%) meeting it; the main weaknesses were found in the inefficient use of compound sentences, the placement of conjunctions at the beginning of sentences, and punctuation errors. These findings indicate that students possess the ability to develop themes and organize news structures but still require reinforcement in linguistic aspects. This study contributes to demonstrating the application of van Dijk’s model in analyzing student texts and provides practical implications for teaching news writing in schools.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2721Forms of Expressive Perlocutionary Speech Acts in the Dialogue of the Character Ian in the Film Numb Celebration by Umah Shahab2026-04-20T07:23:00+08:00Farrel Rizki Saputrafarrel2708@gmail.comDyah Wijayawatifarrel2708@gmail.comBivit Anggoro Prasetyo Nugrohofarrel2708@gmail.com
This study aims to describe the form of expressive perlocutionary speech acts in the dialogue of the character Ian in the film Perayaan Mati Rasa by Umay Shahab. This study is a qualitative descriptive study based on pragmatic studies, focusing on the use of language in the context of speech interactions. The research data are in the form of dialogue utterances of the character Ian containing expressive perlocutionary speech acts. The data were obtained through the Free Listening and Speaking (SBLC) method, which is a data collection technique by listening to the use of language without the researcher's direct involvement in the speech event, which is followed by a note-taking technique to systematically document the data. The collected data were then analyzed using the pragmatic equivalent method with the Determining Elements Selection (PUP) technique, namely analyzing speech based on the context of the speech situation and the determinants of meaning outside of language, such as the relationship between the speaker and the speech partner and situational conditions. Furthermore, the data were classified based on the theory of expressive speech acts proposed by Searle (1979), which includes forms of thanking, congratulating, apologizing, blaming, praising, expressing condolences, and complaining. The results of the study indicate that of the seven forms of expressive perlocutionary speech acts, six were found: thanking, apologizing, blaming, praising, expressing condolences, and complaining. Congratulating was not found. The most dominant form of expressive perlocutionary speech act was complaining, which represents the emotional distress and inner conflict experienced by the main character. This research is expected to contribute to the development of pragmatic studies, particularly the analysis of expressive perlocutionary speech acts in film media, as well as provide implications for the field of language and literature education as teaching materials for discourse analysis and learning to appreciate audiovisual literary works.

2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2858Campur Kode dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Ruteng2026-04-20T11:49:05+08:00Giovanni Battista Agungjovanagung24@gmail.comMargareta Sofyana Irma Kaetgiovannibagung@unwira.ac.idBlandina Wenika Djawagiovannibagung@unwira.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the forms of code-mixing, its triggering factors, and the impact of its use in Indonesian language instruction for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ruteng. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects were seventh-grade teachers and students who are bilingual speakers (Manggarai and Indonesian). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that code-mixing occurs in the form of words and phrases, with a predominance of word-level code-mixing. Triggers for code-mixing include efforts to create a friendly atmosphere, providing examples, explaining material, asking questions, and responding to answers, with creating a friendly atmosphere being the most dominant factor. The findings also show that the practice of code-mixing does not have negative effects but rather aids student comprehension and fosters a more comfortable learning environment. This study contributes to the development of educational sociolinguistic research by demonstrating that code-mixing can function as an effective communication strategy in learning within a bilingual environment. Furthermore, the results of this study provide practical implications for Indonesian language teachers to utilize code-mixing appropriately as part of their teaching strategies without neglecting the proper and correct use of the Indonesian language.

Keywords: code-mixing; language learning; bilingual; classroom interaction; sociolinguistics
2026-04-17T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2594Lexical Ambiguity in The Movie Ford V Ferrari (2019) By James Mangold : a Semantics Study2026-04-20T07:23:00+08:00Muhammad Hikmal Fadillam.hikmal@widyatama.ac.idErvina CM Simatupangm.hikmal@widyatama.ac.id
This study investigates the phenomenon of lexical ambiguity in the film Ford v Ferrari (2019) through the lens of semantics. Lexical ambiguity, which occurs when a single word have more than one meaning, plays a significant role in both everyday communication and cinematic dialogues. The research aims to identify the types of lexical ambiguity found in the movie and analyze the meanings conveyed through those ambiguities. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected through several techniques, including watching the movie repeatedly, transcribing selected dialogues, identifying ambiguous words or utterances, and note-taking. By applying the theories semantics from George Yule (2010), Hurford et al. (2007), and Leech (1981). The data analysis technique involves classifying the ambiguous expressions into types of lexical ambiguity (polysemy and homonymy) and interpreting their meanings based on contextual usage, particularly affective and connotative meanings. To assure data validity, the researcher used theoretical triangulation, which involves comparing several semantic theories and rechecking the data to preserve consistency and accuracy. By highlighting how language ambiguity functions within the film's context, this study contributes to the broader understanding of semantics in audiovisual media and underlines the significance of interpreting meaning in cinematic discourse.
2026-04-14T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2593Language Styles in UFC Trash Talk : a Sociolinguistics Study2026-04-20T07:23:00+08:00Faizi Noor Muhammadfaizi.noor@widyatama.ac.idErvina CM Simatupangervina.simatupang@widyatama.ac.id
This research explores how fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) use language in their press conferences and media appearances, with a focus on the styles and purposes of their verbal exchanges. Using a qualitative approach, the study looks at transcripts from UFC events between 2010 and 2025, especially the words of well-known fighters such as Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz and other Fighters. The analysis is based on Labov’s (1972) framework for storytelling, which includes parts like the abstract, orientation, complicating action, evaluation, resolution, and coda, as well as Jakobson’s (1960) ideas about the different functions of language. The research identifies three main ways fighters use language: confrontational, which involves direct insults and threats; humorous, which includes sarcasm and irony; and performative, which is more about making a dramatic or showy statement. Out of 20 data of UFC trash talk, the analysis revealed that fighters strategically employ various language styles to construct their public personas, intimidate opponents, and engage audiences. Regarding language style classification, the data shows a relatively balanced distribution across narrative categories. Orientation, Complicating Action, and Evaluation were the most frequently used styles, each (20%) of the analyzed data, abstract and Coda each accounted for (15%), resolution appeared least frequently with only (10%). This research contributes to to sociolinguistics, particularly in understanding how language is strategically used in sports media discourse. Set two decades after a global pandemic, the novel depicts humanity’s uncertainty in facing both the comfort and the existential void brought about by dependence on technology. This study aims to examine how social transformation and human identity are represented in the novel using a posthumanism theoretical approach. The method employed is qualitative research based on literary text analysis, focusing on narratives, dialogues, and descriptions related to the relationship between humans and technology. The findings reveal that technology in the novel functions not merely as a tool but has transformed into an entity that reshapes the way humans think, feel, and interact. Human identity becomes fluid, social relations undergo disruption, and traditional values are marginalized. These findings suggest that literature can serve as a reflective space for understanding the dilemmas of humanity amidst the relentless tide of technology.

Keywords: Posthumanism; Identity; AI; Novel; Technology.
2026-04-20T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2781Impoliteness Found in I Care a Lot Movie2026-04-23T08:08:47+08:00Made Susinimadesusini@yahoo.comNi Ptu Eka Meilinda Yantimeilindaeka026@gmail.comI Made Astu Mahayanaastumahayana@gmail.com
The Impoliteness in movies serves as a narrative device to develop characters, create conflict, and reflect real-life social interactions. Applying Culpeper’s impoliteness strategies, this research analyses the strategies, functions, and implications of impoliteness in I Care a Lot movie. The data were taken from the film scripts. The results show that five strategies of impoliteness are found in this movie. They include bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm or mock politeness, and withhold politeness. Positive impoliteness is the most dominant strategy found in the movie (41.2%). This strategy targets someone's approving face, showing disrespect for something in the interaction. Due to the functions, the most frequent function of impoliteness is coercive impoliteness (58,82%). This indicates that the impolite utterances found in the movie are used to pressure, control, or coerce the interlocutor. The findings suggest that impoliteness in movies is essential in establishing power dynamics and character development. This research contributes to socio-pragmatics by providing insights into how strategies of impoliteness can be applied in communication, including film, to create conflict and tension.
2026-04-23T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ejournalunwmataram.org/index.php/trendi/article/view/2850Intertextual Study in the Folk Tales of Kongga Owose and Jack and the Beanstalk2026-04-25T12:24:32+08:00Muh. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using content analysis on 123 dialogues, which were designated as units of analysis. The research data consists of words that meet the criteria for homonymy based on similarity in form, difference in meaning, and contextual relevance. The results indicate the presence of 20 instances of homonymy, evenly divided into 10 cases of pure homonymy and 10 cases of partial homonymy. Analytically, the findings reveal that homonymy in films tends to occur in lexemes closely related to the characters’ daily experiences and shifts from concrete to more abstract meanings, such as “road,” “heat,” “head,” and “hard.” Their meanings cannot be explained by lexical factors alone but are determined by multimodal context, namely the scene’s situation, inter-character relationships, intonation, and expressions. The suitability of films as teaching materials is demonstrated by three factors: the use of lexemes familiar to students, the presence of a clear social context, and the availability of audiovisual cues that aid in meaning interpretation. Thus, this study contributes to semantic research by emphasizing the importance of multimodal context in the interpretation of homonyms, while also proposing films as a medium for contextual and interpretive vocabulary learning.

2026-04-29T00:00:00+08:00##submission.copyrightStatement##
